Catherine, founder

Catherine, from Stow, Ohio has been an athlete for over 20 years and started actively riding and racing mountain bikes, cyclocross and road bikes 5 years ago. She quickly became hooked on riding and racing and hasn’t looked back since.

Catherine founded Ride Inspired Coaching, LLC in 2018 as a means to bring private lessons and clinics to women, men, and youth in Northern Ohio. She also organizes and leads clinics and rides for the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA-local IMBA Chapter), and in the summer of 2018, Catherine founded CAMBA Juniors, a youth developmental MTB club and race team. She’s been coaching at Ray’s Indoor bike park since 2016 and has traveled to coach in multiple states across the country. She has coached with Radical Roots MTB and volunteered with Ladies AllRide. In addition to teaching, she occasionally races for CAMBA in the pro/expert class in the local mtb series.

Catherine holds certifications through BICP, PMBIA, and USAC and has developed a love of introducing new riders, especially women and youth, to mountain biking and helping experienced riders to hone in their skill. As a coach, her passion is rooted deeply in helping riders to find confidence, overcome fears, and develop a love of adventure. Catherine has done extensive coursework outside the cycling world in education and teaching and also holds a personal training certificate. When not on a bike, you can find her lifting at the gym, teaching piano lessons, running, or out exploring nature.

2019 marks Shanta’s 27th year of riding mountain bikes. After riding for 20+ years and not progressing, she attended a mountain bike skills clinic and was amazed at how much more fun riding became and how much more confidence she had with her new skills. She quickly decided she wanted to help others learn skills so they could conquer challenges on the trail, progress safely, race to podiums, or just have more fun on their bikes!

Shanta holds both BICP (Bike Instructor Certification Program) and PMBIA (Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association) Level 2 certifications. She began her coaching career in 2016 when she was invited by Ray Petro to work at Ray’s Indoor Bike Park in Cleveland, OH. In addition, Shanta travels the country coaching for Ladies Allride, Radical Roots MTB Instruction and Sundance Skills Clinics.
